Ewing High School's 2020 Governor's Educator of the Year is Ms.Lauren Wood!
This year, Ewing High School’s Governor’s Educator of the Year selection committee chose an outstanding master educator who works every day to meet the needs of students, Ms. Lauren Wood!
Ms. Wood received her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Bloomsburg University, her Masters’ in Education from Holy Family University and a Masters’ (+30) from LaSalle University.
Ms. Wood started her career at Fisher Middle School and officially joined the Blue Devil family in 2011 as a Special Educator and Reading Specialist. Ms. Wood has co-taught across several disciplines with many teachers to provide support services to students and serve as a resource to her colleagues. These disciplines include Math, English, Family & Consumer Sciences, Visual Arts, and the Life Skills Program. Ms. Wood is also an active member the Ewing High School’s I&RS Committee as she strives to assist students in need and also part of the Ewing Township Education Association.
Aside from her role as classroom teacher, Ms. Wood volunteers countless hours on the weekends and after-school working to ensure that her students have access to as many events and activities as possible. To name a few, Ms. Wood serves as the Rotary Interact Club advisor, helps organize the EHS POAC Autism Walk team in honor and memory of FMS teacher and friend, Ms. Lauren Tenaglia, assists with the Unified Sports Program and Special Olympics, and attends and supports various athletic and performing arts events.
EHS Principal Mr. Chmiel stated, “Ms. Wood is one of the best educators I have worked with in my career. Her dedication to the students is exemplary, performance in the classroom outstanding and she’s a wonderful person. Ms. Woods is an excellent selection as EHS Teacher of the Year.”
