COVID-19 School Notification: Positive COVID-19 Case at Lore Elementary School

Dear Ewing School Community,

This letter is to inform you that a student at Lore Elementary School has tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The District is working closely with public health officials and following CDC, state, and local health department guidance in order to assure the health and safety of our community.

This student was last in school on Friday, October 30th. Although we cannot be sure if the student was contagious while in school, we are taking every precaution.

Our trained COVID-trackers have conducted contact tracing.  In accordance with prevailing guidance, any Lore School staff or student believed to have possibly been in close contact with this student have already been contacted, and, out of an abundance of caution, will be kept out of school and do their work virtually until Monday, November 16th.  If you have not received a phone call, your child was found not be in close contact with this student.

The district will continue to take precautions to prevent the introduction and spread of viruses and other germs and is cleaning frequently-touched surfaces daily. Given the current increase of COVID cases in New Jersey, everyone should monitor themselves for symptoms and follow the guidelines below:

  • Staying home when you are sick or when others in the household are sick;
  • Washing hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds;
  • Covering coughs and sneezes and properly disposing of tissues;
  • Limiting close contact with people who are sick and not sharing food, drinks and utensils;
  • Practicing social distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart);
  • Always wearing a mask while on school property; and
  • Continuing to monitor your health for symptoms.

Remember, all “in-person” students must take, and follow the directives, of the daily COVID-19 screening prior to reporting to school.

We appreciate your support and cooperation. You can assist us by remaining vigilant but sensible in your approach to dealing with this health concern.
