Parkway Media Specialist Presents at NJASL Virtual Conference
Parkway Media Specialist Karen Grant was chosen to present two training sessions at the 2020 New Jersey Association of School Librarians (NJASL) Virtual Conference held on December 4th and 5th, 2020. New Jersey Media Specialists from around the state were asked to submit a proposal on the topics of: Social Emotional Learning, Social Justice, Advocacy & Leadership or Remote Learning if they interested in being a presenter at this year’s virtual conference. Congratulations to our own Ms. Grant who was not only selected to present on one topic but TWO topics!
The first session titled Talking Books Museum featured a diverse book gallery and an interactive discussion about how to use the books. The second session, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Task Force, Ms. Grant presented along with William Patterson University Associate Professor Ellen Pozzi, focused on her work with the EDI Task Force, developing ways to broaden diversity in NJASL's membership, leadership, and professional development. During the session, Ms. Grant introduced the work of the task force and allowed for an open discussion regarding what needs to be done going forward to achieve the goals of the Task Force.
