On Tuesday, March 5th Antheil Elementary School brought the whole community together to celebrate their annual Literacy Festival. To start the Literacy Festival off with an exciting bang, the very talented author, Nancy Viau dropped by to do an author reading to the whole school. She explained that, as a child, she had written a bunch of stories about her adventures, but it wasn’t until decades later that she decided to mix her experiences with those of kids she knew, and put her thoughts down on paper. And that she’s been hooked on writing ever since. The students were mesmerized by her story telling abilities and exhilarating novels!
Later that evening, students and parents were brought together to explore and participate in many literacy activities set up around the school. Some of these activities included the 11th annual “Living Museum” presented by our first grade students, a former Antheil teacher, April Litwin, who is now a successful author of her new hit book “Prickle”, as well as story time told by our guest of honor, The Cat in the Hat. The evening brought everyone in the community together to discover fun and exciting ways to incorporate literacy into our everyday lives.
