Board President Anthony Messina provided the following update regarding the Board’s Superintendent Search:
As you know from our many updates, the Board has worked very hard in our efforts to find a successor superintendent that is an ideal candidate for Ewing and has strived to keep the community informed and engaged throughout this process.
This process has been extensive, and has required the participating Board members to spend many nights out away from their families and personal lives and I wanted to take a moment to thank all of them for their significant efforts and sacrifices.
The Board has recently interviewed four finalists in a format that involved both a presentation and the opportunity for the Board to truly get to know the candidates as people and professionals. We were impressed with all the candidates and believe that they are all outstanding educators and leaders.
At this point, the search is in a very sensitive stage, as each candidate has confidentiality and privacy rights, and we will now move into a contract development process with our top candidate. We remain confident that we will have a successor superintendent in place on or around Mr. Nitti's date of departure, and encourage the school community to monitor our communication portals and Superintendent Search page on our website for updates and information.
Please check the "Superintendent Search Update" page that has been created on the district website for further updates and information.
At the conclusion of the meeting, several members of the public and members of the Board thanked departing Superintendent Michael Nitti for his work and efforts on behalf of the school community. Nitti joined the Ewing Schools in 2005 and has served as superintendent since 2009. It was Nitti's last Board meeting as the sitting superintendent.
