Ewing Schools Release: Letter from the Superintendent

Friday, July 8th, 2022

Dear Ewing School Community,

I hope today finds you and your family well and your summer off to a great start.

I write today with mixed feelings to share that I have been offered and accepted the superintendency of the Bristol Township School District and upon finalization of that process, I will be stepping down as superintendent of the Ewing Schools.

Although I am excited about the new position in Bristol Township and the opportunities ahead, it is emotional for me to leave Ewing.  I have been with the district for seventeen years and chief school administrator since 2009, making me the longest tenured Ewing superintendent since Gilmore J. Fisher, but I believe the time is right to move on.

During my over thirteen years as superintendent, we have had to navigate many challenges, and I am proud of the significant achievements and accomplishments.  However, the very best thing about being superintendent for that long is getting to know families and watching Ewing students grow up and do wonderful things throughout their scholastic careers and into adulthood.  It has been an honor and a privilege to get to know you all and as I reflect back on my time here, I am quite simply very grateful for the experience.

I have to express my gratitude to the outstanding staff of the Ewing Schools, if I was successful during my time at Ewing it was because of your exceptional efforts with our students in the classrooms and on the stage and athletic fields.  I have worked with many Board members during my long time at Ewing, and I always felt supported and valued, and that their focus was on the students of the school community, so I am deeply appreciative of their work and service.  Finally, I have to give special thanks to my cabinet of Danita Ishibashi and Harry Louth (who have been with me since 2009), Dennis Nettleton and Theresa Hullings, for always working so hard on behalf of the students, supporting our initiatives, and quite frankly, putting up with me.

Please know that I will work with the Board and the administrative team to ensure that the transition to a new superintendent is seamless and efficient, and that all of us will be working hard throughout the summer to make sure that the 2022-23 school year gets off to a great start for the students of the Ewing Schools.

In closing, as I say during my commencement address, it is very special to be a part of the Ewing family, and as in any family, there is nothing I want to see more than Ewing students achieving and doing great things in life.  I will always be a supporter of the Ewing community and a fan of Ewing kids, and I look forward to keeping a watchful eye in the future and rooting for the Blue Devils and all the students of the Ewing Schools.

Thank you so much and take care.

Mr. Michael Nitti
