January 3rd, 2022

As a result of a worsening public health situation, we have revised our EHS Winter Athletics Admission Policy:

Motivating factors:

  • Our priority is to keep our students healthy and our schools open, so our student-athletes can continue to play the sports they love.
  • Indoor athletic events present a far greater risk for the spread of Covid-19 than outdoor events.
  • Crowded gymnasiums/venues could pose a profound health risk during times of significant Covid-19 transmission.
  • Spectator attendance rules should be based upon the guidance of public health experts and local relevant health data, which will be evaluated throughout the season.

As a result, the following spectator attendance guidelines will be put in place for all EHS Home Winter Athletic Events:

  • Masks must be worn consistently and appropriately by all attendees.
  • Physical distancing should be practiced by all attendees.
  • No individual should attend these athletic events if they have any symptoms of COVID or have been around anyone who is suspected of having COVID.
  • Only students from the participating schools will be allowed in/All students must have school ID to enter the event/Any students from other schools will be denied admission.
  • Attendance for Varsity Boys/Girls Basketball & Wrestling in the Large (North) Gym will be limited to pre-ticketed student-athlete family members/guests.  There will be no gate tickets sales or admission.
  • We will continue to monitor and evaluate public health data and make adjustments to our capacity limits if appropriate.

For the four (4) wrestling matches scheduled in the South (small) gym, attendance will be limited to two family members per participating student-athlete from each program.

Ticketed EHS Events: Boys Varsity Basketball/Girls Basketball.  Non-Ticketed Admission-Wrestling

  • No bags should be brought into the event.
  • All bags/attendees subject to search.
  • No food/drink of any kind will be allowed into the venue.
  • Any student or adult who exits may not come back into the venue.

Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball games will be livestreamed on our YouTube Ewing Athletics channel.

Please remember that this approach is for EHS Home games.  Other area schools have their own policies, which may more restrictive or less stringent.  Please check with your coach or the athletic office prior to departing for an away game.

Any individual not following the NJSIAA’s spectator sportsmanship code will be asked to leave:

Today's contest is being conducted according to the rules of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.  These rules provide for fair competition among players.  Spectators can help promote good sportsmanship by observing the rules of fair play.  Any verbal, written, or physical conduct related to race, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or religion shall not be tolerated, could subject the violator to ejection, and may result in penalties being assessed against your team. Everyone is requested to take personal responsibility for keeping this competition at a high level of good sportsmanship.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
