Ewing Schools Release: Planning for the Reopening of Schools for 21-22

Community Presentation on Monday, August 16th at FMS at 7PM

Thursday, July 15th    10AM

I hope your summer is off to an enjoyable start.  One final thanks to the entire Ewing School Community for their support during the challenging last school year.

As you know, in July of 2020, the Board of Education approved a comprehensive school district reopening/reentry plan that detailed how the district would safely return students to school and provide high quality instruction during a public health crisis.  That comprehensive plan was designed with the assistance of our district Return to School Transition Team and school-based Pandemic Response Teams and approved by the New Jersey Department of Education.

The district now acknowledges that with public health conditions improving, the Department of Education has ended the waiver for virtual instruction, and the district will continue to modify and adjust its Reopening Plan to provide for the safe and healthy return of all students and staff for fully in-person instruction in September of 2021.

Our Return to School plan is a “living document,” and we have begun our work in revising and revamping our plan to make our anticipated normal, traditional opening as safe and healthy as possible.  We are working with stakeholders with relevance and knowledge, and consulting expert advisors, all while closely evaluating public health developments as the new school year approaches.

On Monday, August 16th at 7PM in the Fisher Middle School Auditorium, I will host a presentation entitled: “Moving Forward-The Ewing Schools in 21/22” touching on our protocols and practices that we will put into place in key areas such as classroom practices, screenings, the use of masks, transportation, food service and others as we strive to make our reopening safe and effective.

The presentation will be also livestreamed if you are unable to attend and then placed on our YouTube channel.

If you have any thoughts, questions or comments related to our reopening, please email them to

 Thank you and take care.
