Important District Release: Hybrid A/B Scheduling Restriction to End at EHS/FMS

Dear Ewing School Community,
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate the COVID-19 public health crisis.
As we make our way to the end of this challenging school year, there have been many signs of optimism as we transition towards normalcy. After losing last season, it has been wonderful to see our high school spring athletics back in action. The sight of Fisher Middle School students enjoying afterschool sports and activities is a welcome one. We are excited about the return of end of year events and ceremonies at all our schools. The vast majority of our staff is fully vaccinated, and the public health news continues to improve both locally and statewide.
After thoughtful deliberation, we have made the decision to invite all Ewing High School and Fisher Middle School A/B “in-person” students in for daily instruction effective Monday, May 10th, 2021.
To make this as concise and simple as possible:
-The hybrid A/B grouping restriction will end on Friday, May 7th. Effective Monday, May 10th, all“in-person” EHS/FMS students may attend every day, if they so desire.
-There will still be a remote virtual option for all EHS/FMS students. In order to be considered present, students must either attend each class “in-person” or be present virtually.
-Both schools will remain on the early dismissal schedule/no lunches/virtual support sessions after “in-person” dismissal.
-This approach will be in place until the end of the school year.
Our administrators and stakeholders have worked hard to prepare for this transition. They have evaluated potential class size issues and made changes, improvements, and adjustments when necessary. We are confident that we can make this change and offer our students this opportunity in a safe and effective manner.
Beginning May 10th, all A and B students will be scheduled in Genesis to attend “in-person” daily. Parents must complete the daily COVID screening form 30 minutes before arrival. “In-person” students who attend virtually on a given day will be marked as APV (absent from school, present virtually).
Remember, we must still embrace the prevention measures that have proven effective in providing a safe environment for our school community. We cannot get complacent or careless with our approach. Masks must always be worn appropriately, physical distancing must be practiced, and proper hygiene, handwashing and sanitary approaches have to be implemented and followed.
Please follow all CDC recommendations regarding COVID-prevention protocols. Remember, do not send your child to school if they are sick, have been around anyone who has been sick, or if any indicator on our daily COVID-screening form is checked! Again, the daily screening form must be completed by all staff and students.
Furthermore, do not send your child to school if they have been part of any gathering that was not in compliance with current COVID-19 restrictions and/or if they were part of any event where proper COVID-19 prevention practices were not in place.
We see this important change as the next step in our progression to what we fully expect will be a normal, traditional opening of school in September of 2021.
