Ewing High School's Troupe 4883 Excels at State Thespian Festival!

Thespian Ewing High School’s Troupe 4883 Excels at State Thespian Festival Thespian

Even in a pandemic, the show must go on!

Ewing High School has a long, storied tradition of excellence in the performing arts, and that continued during these challenging times, as the talented students of Ewing High School’s Troupe 4833 again showed of their considerable skills on the stage. Albeit, in this case, a virtual stage.

NJ Thespians is a state chapter of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), which sponsors the International Thespian Society (ITS).  It is their mission to promote, strengthen, and advocate for theater arts education in New Jersey’s schools.

The high school festival stands out from others as it includes both a competitive side and an education component. Students can opt to compete in National categories. Winning a superior in any of these categories allows them to perform at the International Thespian Festival in June.  The judges are industry professionals from New York City and New Jersey.

Led by co-directors, EHS English teacher Christina Monaco Caldwell and fellow EHS teacher Jessica Bohnenberger, the skilled EHS performers again wowed the judges and impressed all observers.

For the second year in a row, Troupe 4883 was the recipient of the Silver Honor Chapter.

All Festival performances were released virtually on February 1st in Troupe “4883’s Virtual Broadway Showcase” produced by Jayden White!   Ewing School Community members should be on the lookout for ways to help Troupe 4883 attend Nationals and help students fundraise through our Snap-raise Event starting on February 1, 2021.

“We are very proud of our exceptional theater students,” Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ishibashi stated. “They certainly are outstanding ambassadors of Ewing High School, and we appreciate their dedication to their craft.”
