Important District Communication: Parkway Elementary School COVID Update/PES to remain Fully Virtual Learning, Students Return to the School Building on Wednesday, February 24, 2021
February 19th, 2021 10:30AM
Dear Ewing School Community,
We learned earlier this week of an additional Parkway Elementary School staff member who has tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This staff member was last in Parkway on Friday, February 12th, the last time Parkway was open for “in-person” students prior to its current pause.
Four Parkway staff members have tested positive for COVID prior to the current pause.
Our certified district COVID-trackers have conducted contact tracing and all staff and students who have been determined to have possibly been in close contact with this staff member have been notified. Our contact tracers and COVID Management team believe that these cases are related and connected.
Out of an abundance of caution, the COVID Management Team has made the decision to extend Parkway Elementary School fully virtual instruction until Wednesday, February 24th. We will continue to monitor this situation carefully and evaluate developments. If there are no further concerning COVID-related developments, our “in-person” students will return to Parkway on the 24th.
Any staff or students deemed to be close contact of a positive COVID case will still follow the designated quarantine protocols.
Always monitor our communication portals for updates.
Again, we know that this presents a challenge to many of our Parkway families but hope that you understand this decision. Please contact the appropriate Remote Learning Coordinator if your child needs any help and assistance, and remember our counseling and student support staff members are available for families.
Remember, do not send your child to school if they have had any contact with an individual who is sick, suspected of having COVID-19, or if they themselves are not feeling well. The daily COVID screening must be completed each morning, and no child should be sent to school if any indicator is checked.
Thank you for support during these challenging times.
