Important District Communication: Confirmed COVID-19 Cases at Parkway Elementary School/PES to Pivot to Fully Virtual Learning until Monday, February 22nd.

February 15, 2021                                4PM

Dear Ewing School Community,

We have learned of two additional Parkway Elementary School staff members who have tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Our trained district COVID-trackers have conducted contact tracing and all staff and students who have been determined to have possibly been in close contact with these staff members have been notified.  However, our contract tracers are concerned about the potential of further contagion as well as the impact of quarantines on our school operations.

After evaluating this situation, and in accordance with public heath guidance and out of an abundance of caution, the COVID Management Team has made the decision to move Parkway Elementary School to fully virtual instruction until Monday, February 22nd. We will continue to monitor this situation carefully and evaluate developments.  Always monitor our communication portals for updates.

We know that this presents a challenge to many of our Parkway families but hope that you understand this decision. Please contact the appropriate Remote Learning Coordinator if your child needs any help and assistance, and remember our counseling and student support staff members are available for families.

The remainder of our district schools will continue with their “in-person” programming.

Remember, do not send your child to school if they have had any contact with an individual who is sick, suspected of having COVID-19, or if they themselves are not feeling well. The daily COVID screening must be completed each morning, and no child should be sent to school if any indicator is checked.

Thank you for support during these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Michael Nitti

Superintendent
