Dear Staff and Parents: 

The New Jersey Department of Education has announced a new process for the Governor’s Educator of the Year Program. We are proud to have caring and dedicated educators who positively impact the lives of our students and support the district mission of “providing a foundation for life”. 

The Governor’s Educator of the Year Program provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding teachers in our district. Each candidate will be scored based on the criteria below: 

  • Have a superior ability to inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn;
  • Be an exceptionally skilled and dedicated educator in a public or charter school;
  • Anticipate actively continuing in his/her teaching status for at least five more years;
  • Have the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues; and
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to foster excellence in education as evidenced by ongoing contributions to the improvement of student learning and the learning environment. 

If you would like to nominate a teacher for this award, please complete the attached Nomination Form and narrative. The Nomination Form will also be available on your building website and/or main office counter. 

A building-based selection committee will review the nomination forms and use the State-provided scoring guide to determine the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Educator of the Year for the building. 

All nomination forms are due to your building’s principal by November 11, 2020.
