Ewing Public Schools STAFF Spotlight: Meet Lauren Zablow
What is your position at the Ewing Public Schools District Administration Office and what are your responsibilities?
I am the Human Resources Specialist with the Ewing Public Schools. I have a range of responsibilities which some include on-boarding all new staff members, managing the substitute hiring and serving as a point of contact for employees.
How did you become interested in the area of Human Resources?
In my first year at Rider University, I was required to take a career planning class which led me to explore various careers that I may be interested in. Human Resources piqued my interest and after shadowing various members of a Human Resources department at a satellite company, I realized this was the field I was interested in pursuing.
What do you think is the most important aspect of your position?
I think the most important aspect of my position is being readily available to assist staff members in a positive way.
What college or university did you attend and why did you choose that establishment of higher-education?
I attended Rider University and received my Bachelor of Science with a double major in Business Administration and Human Resources Management. I chose Rider because I wanted to stay close to home and liked the idea of attending a university with a small campus.
What is your 5 year plan?
My 5 year plan includes completing my Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from West Chester University while continuing to learn and grow within the field.
What do you like best about Ewing?
What I like best about Ewing are the people that I get to work with on a daily basis. I enjoy coming to work every day knowing that I get to work with great people.
What do you do outside of the office?
Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with family and friends, working out, reading and traveling.
Who or what has impacted your life in a positive way?
My parents have had the biggest impact on my life. They have always supported every decision I’ve made and pushed me to reach my potential.
How do you define success?
I define success as accomplishing the goals that you have set for yourself.
What is the one thing people do not know about you that you would like to share?
One thing people may not know about me is that I completed my Bachelor’s degree in three years.
