K-5 Family Groups consists of students from each grade level, who meet with teachers, parents and support staff several times during the school year to learn from one another or provide an opportunity for service learning. These service learning projects are part of our community outreach.

K-5 Family Groups change each year. A staff member volunteers to coordinate the placement of all students in each Family Group. Each Family Group bears the name of a Unity word. Records are maintained and most students are not placed in a group with the same students or staff from the previous year.

Each meeting has a specific routine modeled after the Responsive Classroom’s morning meeting approach. Group members participate in high interest, bonding activities designed to foster unity. These group activities purposefully reflect the concepts of specific Unity words.
