Assessment
State and local assessments play an important role and guide our work in providing high-quality instruction for every student within the Ewing Public Schools. These assessments help us understand how well students are mastering essential skills and standards, and they give teachers valuable information to tailor instruction to meet individual needs. By reviewing these data, we can celebrate growth, identify areas for support, and ensure that each student is on a strong path toward academic success.

New Jersey Student Learning Assessment-Adaptive (NJSLA-A)
New Jersey Student Learning Assessment-Adaptive tests evaluate students' progress toward the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science. NJSLA-A is a computer-based, adaptive test, although a paper-based test is available as an accommodation. ELA assessments focus on close reading, synthesizing ideas within and across texts when writing, determining the meaning of words and phrases in context, and writing effectively when using and/or analyzing sources such as texts, audio recordings, or videos. Mathematics assessments will focus on applying skills and concepts and understanding multi-step problems that require abstract reasoning and modeling real-world problems, precision, perseverance, and strategic use of tools. Science assessments will focus on applying scientific concepts and practices within domains of Earth & space, life, and physical science. Students will demonstrate their acquired skills and knowledge by answering multiple-choice questions, constructing responses to questions, and answering technology-enhanced questions (
NJDOE, Assessment, NJSLA/NJGPA).
New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment-Adaptive (NJGPA-A)
New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment-Adaptive consists of an ELA and a mathematics component, which is administered to students in grade 11 for the purpose of meeting the state graduation assessment requirement. Additional information regarding the New Jersey Department of Education Assessment Requirements is available on the

College Board Assessments
College Board assessments are a series of tests that measure K-12 student skills in reading, writing, and math, offering a progressive path to gauge college readiness and connect students to opportunities like scholarships. Students may take assessments from the SAT Suite of Assessments including PSAT 8/9, PSAT, and SAT. At the high school level, students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses are provided the opportunity to sit for the national AP exams offered in May of each year.
