Students delved into the historical understanding of how ancient Islamic nations viewed the workings of the eye and conducted successful cataract surgery over a thousand years ago! As the week progressed, students experimented and investigated the behavior of light through stations, exploring reflection, lasers, and polarity. The unit ended in an exciting, 'EYE'-catching, culminating activity of exploring the parts and functions of an eye: the dissection of a cow's eye. 'Click' to view pictures.
Fisher Middle School is proud of their Intergenerational Club, where 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to adopt grandparents or senior adults from Ewing Independent Living. It’s exciting for ‘grandparents’ to interact with younger generations, sharing their years of acquired skills and knowledge and, at the same time, enjoying the energy, creativity and vitality of young minds.
Fisher Middle School orchestra students performed at a local concert at the historic 1867 Sanctuary on Scotch Road. The concert featured speakers representing multiple local houses of worship, as well as music by local musicians. The students performed on their own as a trio and also accompanied the full adult choir in a traditional choir anthem.
At Fisher Middle School, we are one community consisting of many cultures. The World Cultures Club embraces and celebrates the variety of cultures in the world. Every week, the members of the club ‘travel’ to a different country and study its traditions, music, food, history and holidays. 'Click' this headline to read more!
